Romans 13:11 – “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
It’s late at night, and your eyelids are heavy. The struggles and the headaches of the workday are behind you now, and tomorrow is coming fast. You turn out the lights and head for the nice, warm bed that’s waiting for you. Pulling back the covers, you lay your head down on the nice cool pillow, and then close your eyes. Your mind wanders for a few minutes but before you know it, you are fast asleep. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
Sleep is a gift God has given to us, and I enjoy a good night’s rest as much as anybody. It can be wonderful to be blissfully unaware of what is going on around you. However, not all sleep is good or godly sleep. For instance, there are an alarming number of Christians who are sound asleep spiritually speaking. As far as any practical purpose goes, they are dead to the world and content to be completely ignorant of anything going on around them.
Now it’s not for lack of alarms going off that these Christians are asleep. There is more than enough to shake them awake and jar them out of their spiritual slumber. From the prophesies that are being fulfilled to the startling changes in the world we are witnessing, there is no shortage of wake-up calls sounding off.
My Reaction: What will it take to wake up the churches across this world? What will it take to wake up the churches across America? But most importantly, what will it take do wake up you and I?
